POST MAY OR MAY NOT GET EDITED FOR FORMATTING
________________________________________________
Assuming this post wanted to start a conversation rather than an argument here are two rankings that I came to after stealing some guy from reddit's aggregate list of multiple ranking sources.
Sources of errors in these rankings include: -If a prospect is only included in one of the source lists, they will be given this ranking as the average ranking. See bottom of post for adjustment for that.
-For prospects who are not included on these lists, I threw in a number of 300
Rough spreadsheet and source available upon request.
Overall Ranking COL /// 99.8 /// 1 STL 108.8 2 HOU 125.7 3 TEX 136.2 4 KC 144.1 5 ATL 145.4 6 CLE 162.2 7 PHI 165.8 8 BOS 181.0 9 CHC 200.8 10 NYM 203.9 11 CIN 206.7 12 DET 217.8 13 NYY 222.4 14 TB 226.3 15 BAL 256.0 16
Number of Prospects not listed on any of the reddit guy's source lists: COL 0 HOU 1 STL 2 ATL 4 CLE 4 KC 5 TEX 6 PHI 6 BOS 10 CHC 11 CIN 11 TB 12 NYM 14 DET 14 NYY 14 BAL 18
Average/Rank of those prospect's that were listed (second number is listed number):
TEX 19 84.5 1 STL 23 92.2 2 COL 24 99.8 3 BOS 15 101.7 4 KC 20 105.1 5 DET 11 113.2 6 NYY 10 113.7 7 ATL 21 116.0 8 HOU 24 118.5 9 CHC 14 122.8 10 PHI 19 123.4 11 BAL 6 124.1 12 CIN 13 127.7 13 CLE 21 136.0 14 NYM 11 139.8 15 TB 13 158.4 16
________________________________________
Numbers Adjusted as follows for prospect frequency on lists (Add +100 for prospect on 2 lists or fewer, Add +50 for prospect on 3-5 lists, +25 for 6-8 lists)
Adj. Net Overall Ranking
COL 135.2 1 STL 143.8 2 TEX 164.2 3 HOU 172.7 4 KC 175.1 5 ATL 177.4 6 PHI 198.8 7 BOS 204.0 8 CLE 216.2 9 NYM 235.9 10 DET 237.8 11 CIN 241.1 12 CHC 242.8 13 NYY 244.2 14 TB 264.3 15 BAL 271.6 16
Adj. Ranked-Only Prospects
COL 24 109.7 1 TEX 19 121.4 2 STL 23 121.7 3 KC 20 135.2 4 ATL 21 136.1 5 BOS 15 140.1 6 PHI 19 146.7 7 DET 11 158.6 8 HOU 24 160.7 9 NYY 10 166.2 10 TB 13 172.2 11 NYM 11 172.4 12 CIN 13 180.9 13 BAL 6 186.6 14 CLE 21 193.9 15 CHC 14 197.8 16
Obviously some holes in the numbers but that's what I'm going to put out there.

Royals - glad you brought some substance to the conversation the problem I have with those rankings are two fold. #1 when doing prospect lists most lists are based on overall player. Defense is included and usually who's standing in the way of playing time is discredited. For fantasy purposes this can be skewed. We hear all the time about how good a minor leaguers is but if you read through you see he is a defense 1rst asset. Minor league rankings also never properly evaluate relievers. Which in a holds and saves league has to boost those players up. They can be gold. Jared taking AJ Minter in the 3rd and being a huge bust is already factored in because relievers don't rank high but taking Ty Buttery, who excelled, won't be evaluated by analysts properly.
Just my 2 cents on basing fantasy value (especially in a 16 team league) on minor league prospect lists

And now with the Rule Changes, there is no 1 batter out Hold unless he is finishing an inning. LHP who cant get RHH out and vice versa are gonna be useless for Holds which changes the way Owners go for Holds now.

No doubt. I understand those points, just neglected to include them in the "problems with this" section.

couldn't agree more. No more cheap holds (I loved those). Also changes the idea of two way players. Guys like Cronenworth, Walsh and MCKay (who Jared attacked because he doesn't understand baseball) will get that extra bench spot because he might be called on for an inning. These rule changes are huge

Updated with rationale...
Tommy go ahead and give me some data to defend this. This is current ranks and has nothing to do with your 2 rings.

you're using prospect lists on OVERALL GAME PLAY. Weirdly defense doesn't count in this league hahahaha If you believe that Emmanuel Clase or Andres Munoz won't be more valuable than Daulton Varsho then we know why you lose every single year.

the prospect list you are using lists 10 catchers in the top 100. Zero relievers.
according to fantrax among last years top 100 fantasy players for our league 17 were relief pitchers. Not one catcher qualified for the top 100. In fact there were only 2 catchers inside the top 200.
So yeah you're list is pure garbage

What you are missing Jared is there is a difference between real life players and fantasy. 1B, DH, RP will always be undervalued by prospect lists. Lefty starters will always be overrated because of scarcity, catchers with good defense will be rated high, defense 1rst short stops will be elevated higher than normal. That's because their real life value is huge, that does not transfer, or doesn't always transfer, to fantasy impact. It's a good discussion to have but to think your farm team is anywhere near Rockies, Royals or Rangers is just silly man
