Hey guys I just wanted to address a possible issue we will have at year's end. Me and Braves have talked about it a few times and we need to have input for a resolution. Many of you were not a part of the league when we installed the restricted free agent rights clause but it was for the better of the league. In a Dynasty league you don't want turnover and players leaving teams. We now come to an issue that was not addressed and should be.
There are players on teams coming after this year that were drafted and given the 4 year contract. These contracts will soon run out. I would think they should get the automatic RFA tag on them but it's not written anywhere. My thoughts are if you draft a player and he stays on your team through the minors and 4 years as a pro they are your RFA. If this is too much maybe we declare 4-5 guys that will be your somewhat "franchise" players sort of like the NBA or NFL does with a cap, and once traded they lose that RFA tag.
I know it's early but it's best to deal with this now. The reason for RFA makes sense but again would punish those teams with a guy who was signed before then, thus eliminating the entire purpose of RFA rights. The point is low turnover and keep "your" hometown guys , to add a tag to the original drafting team makes the easiest sense but we should get feedback.
thanks

also not alot of players land in this realm as of now but in 2 years and so much more in 3-4 this will become more and more of a problem. My suggestion is only players that were in your farm system (even if traded) then spent 4 full years on your team can be RFA

and just for reference this effects every single team because doing the research each team has at least one guy who's contract would run out in 2014 and he's not a RFA

Well I am under the impression that if Soto on my team his contract runs out in 2012 and was drafted back in 2008 and after We agree for the RFA tag I also thought it automatically applied for the Rookies we Drafted cause I find that Logic especially if they are signed to a Minor League contract for 5 yrs... Same goes for Colvin for 2014 and Hellickson for 2015 after He starts the year in the Minors and then I'll promote him to not loose any yrs on this guy.... So it will be a pitty if we don't even get a chance to keep them after 4 or 5 yrs and make sense too with when U sign a guy to a 3 or 4 yr contract then it is RFA so I think it still make sense that when Soto or Votto's contract finsih that the manager has a RFA I will vote yes for that.....

I "assumed" this too guys but I remember what happened last time a rule seemed obvious and made total sense it was reversed by the league for no reason whatsoever LOL so wanted to address it now
