Just a thought since we are in season and have everyones attention I think we should have something in place that you get exempt from a contract if a player retires or dies (God forbid)
It doesn't impact my team at all this year which is a good time to bring it up. Tex retiring is a good expample. i think if someone had him on a 3 year deal they shouldn't be held to him if he retires in real life. Just my 2 cents

It's been enforced in the past and I think we should stop.

I think once a player retires we shouldn't have to pay for them.
Does bring up the question of what happens if a player "unretires". Can we allow a team to choose whether to release a player if they retire?

We should also void contracts when a player gets DFA'd or goes to Japan

Maybe to Japan not for DFAd though. We can't have ways out of every contract. If a guy gets DFAd it's cause he started sucking and it's not much different for us than If he just sucks and sits on the bench. If you sign a player and he stays a free agent into the season you still have to pay him so why would DFA be different. If a player is just an older player who retires then it should be like any drop you pay half. If you give a long contract to a guy in his late 30s you knew that was a possibility and shouldn't a have free pass for doing that. In the case of injuries like Fielder there should be something in place. Sitting with a bad contract on your team and the guy isn't even on an MLB roster sucks but you can't create a way out just because you don't like it. For deaths obviously there should be no penalty and injuries that force retirement maybe like 1/4 of the contract for a season then nothing after that.

I was joking. I think all of it is ridiculous. That's the risk you take when you sign guys to multi year deals. Live with it.

I'm ok with anything you guys decide. It doesn't and hasn't impacted me just thought it was worth discussing
