I have a real quick question on Cap Space money being moved and how it works out. So I sent $2 to Indians in a trade earlier in the draft and then just received $4 from him in a recent trade. Does that show up on the spreadsheet as I gave him $2 and he gave me $4 or just as he gave me $2 since, in reality, he gave me my $2 back? Can I now only get $1 from Indians in any future trade this year or is the limit $3? And with that said, could someone include up to $10 in a trade if they have already received $5 from the team that they are trading with? Just wondering as it might have an effect on a future deal this year sometime. Thoughts???

I could be wrong here but I thought it was never more than $5 during the year exchanged overall and never more than $5 at one time. So conceivably two teams can swap $5 back and forth all season if they wanted to but can never exchange $6 in one transaction. I am sure there are as always some big loopholes but if I remember this was an incident and kinda how it was hashed out ... or I've had a fever for a week and my ramblings will not make sense lol
So in your examples you should be able to get $3 from him but no one can ever include $10 in one transaction

I believe Tommy is correct. No more than $5M NET ever going between two teams AND no more than $5M in one transaction.

Thanks for clarification from some of the vets. I appreciate it.

So if I understand this correctly, the money traded between teams can essentially cancel each others out. So for example Mets sends me $5 in a trade. A month later I send him $5 in a trade. That $5 I sent would then put me as receiving $0 from Mets and him as sending me $0. So we would then each have the ability to send $5 again in a trade with one another at point down the road?

Sorry Mike I didnt see this post. But yes your example is correct and you could do that.
Going back and reading the wording of the rules I admit it wasnt the clearest so I have updated that part of the "tradable commodities" section.
As far as I know no one has tried to trade more than $5 in cap with someone they had sent/received money from previously so this probably just hasnt come up yet. Thanks to Mets for pointing it out ahead of time.
If the majority want to allow Mets original example (getting $10 in a trade from someone you sent $5 to previously) we could always modify it to allow that. Or leave it as is, personally Im fine with it either way.

Ok. I like it. It's not how I understood it to be or what I think we've been practicing. With that said it is how I always thought it should've been, makes the most sense.

I am also fine with however we implement this. I just wanted to clarify it once I thought of it. Always easier dealing with a question over more of a hypothetical than in the midst of an actual situation, where things can get a little more passionate (that's the word I'll use).

Personally I don't care either way. I just need to know what we are doing so that I can correct the spread if need be.

$5 is the max you can send in a trade. A $5 balance whether positive or negative is the most you can have with another team. You can trade with another team 50 times if you want and money can go back and forth as much as you want. However, that cap sent or received can never total more than $5
Example: I send Mets $5 in a trade and then a month later he sends me $3 back in a trade. My total net sent to Mets is $2.
