So are you saying if there are 2 outfielders out there and I have $10 in cap space that I can't bid $8 on one and $4 on another? Because I think that's a pretty tricky scenario and I like it the way we have it now, that once you win a player you have 24 hours get back under the cap.
Especially with RFAs, For example, I bid 12.5 on Rasmus and 14.0 on Porcello, knowing it was quite likely that I wouldn't get either of those guys. But if we change the rule to make it so that you can't bid over your salary cap, then I would be screwed for trying to go after RFAs - which to me doesn't seem right.

Phillies - I understand that concern but the fact is this system has begun to be abused already and it can get worse. Why couldn't someone with say $20 left just bid $20 on 3 free agents? Then the owners are stuck with having to take their rights when it's not even a valid bid. If we were all honorable guys this wouldn't be the issue but the system has been abused now for a year. The latest was just a slap in the face of the league where a manager was over the cap, bid himself up only to push the price up and after he won and was still over the cap put up a new player to bid on. This is nothing more than someone bending the rules to screw owners and is almost the same tactics used by Kevin in the past.
For example -- at the start of the auction process an owner has $40 left. Why not just bid $40 on two free agents. Thinking if he wins one then fine and the other just gets the RFA rights owner to accept at a huge price that wasn't even a valid bid.
If you want to still bid over the cap then we need more than a slap on the wrist to drop players. I think anyone under $10 is full price to drop and include a non-trade transactions limit. This will stop guys from bidding up players for no reason only to have to drop guys. One way or another the system is flawed and it's being abused by people looking for a backdoor.

Well the way we have done it is that you announce in your bid whom you would drop if you won the auction. For example: Say I have $15 left and go to $16 on my bid for Medlen. My bid would look like this
$16 - 2016
Dropping Ervin Santana. I have not officially dropped him, just stating if that I win the auction the corresponding move is to drop Santana.
THat is the way it should be. Takes care of Phillies issue of not being able to bid over your cap. Takes care of other peoples issues of having a hard $280 free agency cap.

That is how it is with in season bidding so that is how it should be in the offseason. The 300 cap grace period crap should only apply to trades. I am fully onboard with Braves using his commish powers and putting that into affect right now for the health of this league.

For someone who pisses and moans every time someone or thing goes against them and then calls people names and makes false accusations, you would think they would realize this IS the type of behavior that will make other guys target you!!

well, since I'm right now over the limit, If need be - I'll be dropping Gorkys Hernandez.
So let's say that I end up winning both guys - is Hernandez dropped immediately - as soon as I am officially over the cap?

Fact of the matter is this is a 16 team free fantasy baseball league, in which most of us don't really know each other outside of this league. So there has to be some good faith between all of us. And I would expect that everyone else wouldn't and shouldn't be ok when someone blatantly abuses that or purposely works around things that are just understood but not official.

I think TJ has the right idea here -- just like in-season bidding, if you bid over your remaining cap, you need to declare whose contract you'll cut to make it work. Just like if you had a full MLB roster, you would have to announce someone you're cutting.

yep like I said this shouldn't even be something that's voted on. Just have TJ change his picture to Roger Goodell and do what he sees is best.
