That is absolutely brutal ! I thought my ending was the hardest, facing division winners in 4 of my last 7 weeks and Rays, then I read this!

We need to do some real evaluation of if this is a fluke or if there is a flaw in this system for us.
Orioles continues to win without even a starting 3b. He has a good team, but is he really that lucky?

It's a very, very weighted schedule. It has to be re-worked as it massively favors the weaker teams from the year before, but since I'll be one next year let's change this for 2016 LOL
I can only go by own schedule but I've played the other first place teams in 3 straight weeks, and my division opponents now for over a month. I've played 1 team since week 6 that isn't a first or 2nd place team. I have played teams above .500 in 9 of my 12 weeks.
The Orioles played 5 of their first 6 weeks against sub .500 teams and have now played sub .500 teams in 8 of their 12 weeks.
This is a definite problem that I am glad Cards brought up. Nothing against the Orioles because you play who is put in front of you but it's not even close to a level playing field when I have played 3 sub .500 teams and Orioles has played 4 over .500 clubs all season. (not to pick on orioles but obviously I'm just familiar with the guy I'm chasing)

And Favor the 3rd and 4th place teams?? Playing Ur Division Twice and also all of the 1st and 2nd Place teams!! We all Agreed if I am not mistaken when this was Brought Up so I don't see any problem with the Schedule and I am the One with the Toughest Schedule ahead!!! So with that Said if U wanna face a Weaker Schedule You can just Finish 3rd or 4th that way Next year U will face ALL of the 3rd and 4th place team TWICE and also ur Division

Also I think However U will put the Schedule, every Year there will be Someone Complaining that the Schedule Sucks and just wants to pick on something instead of Reflecting on their team and see what went wrong... I just have to Say Great Job to Mets for Putting and Making a Schedule and doing it Yearly so Keep it up!! I think the Idea of 1st and 2nd place teams playing each other Twice with ur Division is Good also 3th and 4th place Team playing each other twice!! I Just Hope I don't ever have to Face 3th and 4th place teams anymore I'd rather have a Tuff Schedule yearly hehehe

I think we should play every team outside of our division once and the rest of the time play the teams in our division. That way the team that wins the division is truly the best team in the division.

I am good with whatever the majority feels for scheduling. Cubs, you are right that every year someone will complain about how the schedule is put together because it doesn't work for them. Yanks and Cards, that is not a shot against you for saying something right now- just a normal observation. I really don't care what people decide as long as the league decides and I will do my best to put it together.
Indians, if we play our division teams three times, then the complaint is that those in weaker divisions have an unfair advantage. Already heard that before.
Right now you play everyone once, your division a second time, and your finishing slot from last year a second time (all 1st place, all 2nd place, etc.) I also make sure that there are a least two matchups in between playing the same opponent (two weeks). Hopefully that is a full DL stint. I cannot predict who is going to be better the following year and this does make it difficult on the better finishing teams. Let me know of a better way if you can come up with one.

I will admit that I am surprised that Orioles has kept putting up wins in matchups like he has, when he has to start the likes of Marcus Semien and Derek Dietrich every night. But taking a closer look, it appears to be much more a function of his team and performance than schedule. Beware, this is going to get long, as I can tend to do...
First, let's take a look at the under-.500 teams that Orioles has played: - Rays (9 games under) - division opponent, so he's playing him 2x no matter what. Rays also had the 3rd best record in the league last year, and only missed the playoffs because Yankees was better. - Cardinals (7 games under) - a matchup because of finishing 3rd, but Cards was a .526 team last year, and no one would have pegged this as an 'easy' matchup before the season - Indians (12 games under) - Indians had the best record in the league last year, and O's is only playing him once. The weighted schedule has no impact here. - Reds (35 games under) (played twice already) - admittedly I have sucked, and this makes O's schedule easier (though he won our two matchups by a total of 14-9-1, actually a worse record than his overall) - Pirates (2 games under) - only playing once - Phillies (24 games under) - .532 team last year, only playing once
Second, a look at O's four biggest routs: W: Rays 9-3 - mentioned already, below .500 but 3rd best record last year W: Nationals 9-2-1 - above .500, tied for the Ted Williams division lead W: Indians 9-3 - mentioned already, below .500 but best record in the league last year W: Rockies 10-1-1 - above .500, tied with Nationals for the Ted Williams division lead So two of O's biggest wins are against division leaders, and two are against sub-.500 teams, but they were expected to be tough opponents. None of these teams were on the schedule more than once, O's may have just caught them at the right time.
Third. To take out some of the elements of scheduling, I occasionally like to look at what the standings would be like if this were a Roto league. Now this isn't perfect. We all build our teams knowing that we're playing H2H, and sometimes we pull guys on Sunday to preserve leads in AVG/OPS/ERA/WHIP. But this is a quick way to look and see who is actually putting up numbers. 1. A's - 148.5 points (77 hitting, 71.5 pitching) (3rd in actual H2H standings) 2. Mets - 135.5 points (64 H, 71.5 P) (1st in standings) 3. Orioles - 126 points (65.5 H, 60.5 P) (2nd in standings) 4. Rockies - 125 points (73 H, 52 P) (T-5th in standings) 5. Indians - 117.5 points (55.5 H, 62 P) (13th in standings) 6. Cardinals - 116 points (39 H, 77 P) (11th in standings) 7. Braves - 115.5 points (50 H, 65.5 P) (4th in standings) 8. Royals - 115.5 points (78 H, 37.5 P) (7th in standings) 9. Nationals - 113.5 points (72 H, 41.5 P) (T-5th in standings) 10. Tigers - 104.5 points (55 H, 49.5 P) (9th in standings) 11. Yankees - 97.5 points (42.5 H, 55 P) (8th in standings) 12. Pirates - 96 points (38 H, 58 P) (10th in standings) 13. Rays - 71.5 points (17.5 H, 54 P) (12th in standings) 14. Reds - 68.5 points (37.5 H, 31 P) (15th in standings) 15. Phillies - 62.5 points (42.5 H, 20 P) (14th in standings) 16. Angels - 18.5 points (9 H, 9.5 P) (16th in standings) These suggest Orioles is right about where he should be. His offense has been average in AVG and SB, and above average in the other 4 categories. His pitching staff isn't very deep, but he's had the best ERA and WHIP in the league. The biggest deviations here are two of O's opponents so far - Indians and Cards - who appear to have been unlucky. Indians is very balanced across all the stats. Cards has been weak on offense (outside of HR), but has had a great pitching staff, dominating counting categories while still having above average ratios.
And FINALLY, I'll look at the matchups this year from the weighted schedule (so last year's 1st place teams, 2nd place teams, etc.) 1st place: Yankees (8th this year, 11th roto) Mets (1st this year, 2nd roto) Indians (13th this year, 5th roto) A's (3rd this year, 1st roto)
2nd place: Rays (12th this year, 13th roto) Angels (16th this year, 16th roto) Phillies (14th this year, 15th roto) Nationals (T-5th this year, 9th roto)
3rd place: Reds (15th this year, 14th roto) Orioles (2nd this year, 3rd roto) Royals (7th this year, T-7th roto) Cardinals (11th this year, 6th roto)
4th place: Rockies (T-5th this year, 4th roto) Tigers (9th this year, 10th roto) Pirates (10th this year, 12th roto) Braves (4th this year, T-7th roto)
Honestly, if there's anyone the weighted schedule favors this year, it's the people who finished in 2nd place in their divisions last year. Go figure. Shoot, the 3 teams the Angels have beaten are all above .500 - the Tigers, Rockies, and the Mets -- and the Mets seem to be pretty clearly one of the Top 3 teams in the league.
Basically, I think we have the scheduling right where it should be and kudos to Randy for putting a lot of work into it each year. (The gaps between match-ups when you face a team twice are a good sign of the work that's being put in to make everything as fair as possible.) OK I'm done now!
