Effective 12/12/11: A player on a rookie contract(blue highlighted) may have his final year bought out and signed to an extension. The value of the extension will be based on the average of the top 5 paid players at the same position from the previous year. - Multi-position eligible players will be priced at the position they played the most games. - Outfielders will be lumped together. Outfielder price is $46.04

And does this factor contracts to finish the year or top 5 given through the year. Remember I paid gallardo 35 or so and cut him.

I'm going to ask for clarification on the catcher salary.
Napoli was listed as a Catcher on espn and the SS. He caught 0 games in 2013, does that mean he shouldn't be included in the average salary? By the same token, victor martinez only caught 3 games in 2013 but had C eligibility from 2011 when he had C eligibilty. "Top 5" Mike Napoli 2014* ($22.50)- 0 Games as Catcher Brian McCann 2015* ($24.30) Matthew Wieters 2017* ($20.30) Victor Martinez 2015* ($28)- 3 Games as Catcher Joe Mauer 2013 ($20.00)
AVG 23.02_________________________________
Yadier Molina 2016* ($11.70) Salvador Perez 2014* ($9.30) AVG 17.12______________________________(Without Napoli and Martinez)

Yeah I think the commish needs to clarify. Personally I don't think Napoli should be used, Vmart was not used to get Yanks figure, Yadi was

Furthest I could go back Oct 31. Here's the math I came up with. Not sure who Yanks used but these are who I saw w the top 5 salaries, I could have missed someone
3B Ryan Zimmerman @ $22.5 David Wright @ $41 Miguel Cabrera @ $48.6 Evan Longoria @ $36.65 Adrian Beltre @ $35 average= $36.75
SS Tulo @ $35 Jose Reyes @ $25 Hanley @ $31.5 JRoll @ $22 Alexie Ramirez @ $18 average = $26.3
2B Cano $49.5 Pedroia $25.5 Kinsler $27.2 Phillips $23 edit: Uggla/Utley $22.5 Zobrist $35 = $32.04
1B Prince $53.75 AGone $44.1 Pujols $52.2 Votto $40.8 Allen Craig $39.5 = $46.07 C Mauer $20 Yadi $11.7 McCann $24.3 Weiters $20.3 Salvador Perez $9.3 = $17.12
Not sure if this does but just trying to help, didn't have time to look at the pitchers.

Alright gentlemen here are the final numbers. Players with multi-position eligibility would slot into the position they played the most games:
Indians figures are accurate above.
