Ok guys I know I will take alot of flack for this but I am always looking out for the betterment of the league so will take the hit to improve us going forward. Let me first say we have never had this problem before which is why the subject wasn't broached but we need to stop this now.
I propose we have to institute some sort of bigger penalty for dropped players in year, and/or a aquistions limit in season. Every other year since the inception of the league we might and that's a strong might have had one free agent bid on per week. Now it seems almost daily we have a guy bid on and they are not small one year contracts. All long term.
Now some teams will think this effects them this season and be angry about it naturally but you have to think down the road. This constant dropping and picking up $1 players for max years is getting ridiculous and will hamper the league massively in years to come. Besides the obvious fact that this sort of aggressiveness has already lost us owners and will continue to, in years from now you will see more than half the league on $1 contracts. The ripple effect of selfish owners won't be felt for years but I for one look long term and we need limits or a plan to attack this. These are "Kevin" loophole tactics that we need to nip in the bud.

I agree and it can be corrected pretty easily. We could do a $1 min drop penalty for example. I'd like to hear other options.
Acquisition limit seems a little more difficuly only because there is not an easy way to monitor it.

I think a good acquisition limit could be instituted pretty easy. Just say no more than say 10 drops in season. No one should be dropping 10 guys off of a 35 man roster anyway. But I'd be for a more strict penalty for money but don't think $1 is enough to stop it. But I am with you guys as long as something is done

I think a limit on the number of drops and a $1 drop penalty, that would just about take care of all of the incessant dropping and adding.
If a player goes out for a season ending injury, I don't think that should count against a teams number of drops though.

Very much agree Nats, great addition of a season ending injury being exempt. This should take place as soon as possible and certainly not wait until 2014. Makes no sense to wait and defeats the purpose

Good point Yanks! I agree with what Nats said, do both. And lets put this into effect this season.

Other leagues don't let you sign players in season for longer than the rest of the year.

What was the result of this? We all agreed we needed a change this should have taken effect 3 weeks ago or is it in effect now?

This is a big change.
I think it is accelerated by the amount of gms not filling their rosters with current productive players bc they aren't active - see royals.
I feel if everyone were active we wouldn't have as many players to bid on.

I definitely agree that having what is essentially 4 dead teams is hurting us badly but this is a problem we all said and agreed would cause massive damage for the future and needed to be stopped right away. Since then there have been more and more players signed by the same few teams causing damage to this league that will not be able to be repaired

I can say with 100% certainty that more max year players have been dropped this year than all the years combined in this league. Some teams found a loophole and are destroying what used to be a good league because of their greed
