What Cards said.
I mean, I know Bruce is only under contract through 2012, but I still can't figure out the motivation here. I'd at least like to hear Expos' rationale before ruling on it.

This guy won't return my pms either. Sounds like a situation where certain gmail communicate with certain gms and not others. This has been grounds for investigation of whether gms are worthy of a spot in this league due to their participation level. See white sox - cardinals a la Draft picks and cardinals - dbacks a la Jose Lopez. Of the pre 2011 season.

Maybe he just doesn't return your pms. He wouldn't be the only one on here that chooses who he replies too.

Well I'm Not concerned at all! I see no problem If he might think Bruce will go for 50M or Higher!! Cause this Leageu is more of a year league then a Dynasty and that is what I am concerned over not this Deal! Fine with me a good young SP plus a 2nd round for Bruce and Venable for a 4th round? Eh Gomez till 2015 Bruce till 2012 venable has an option too so I see no problem and that's all my opinion, not that it matters but just givin' my point here,, Anyways I know I'm not in the Committee anymore but I'll defend this Deal!

This is one of those deals where I can see both sides of the argument. I can see why Cards doesn't like this deal and why Cubs has no problem with it. I think Bruce is worth more than this but it's not like Expos is just giving him away. Should he get more, probably. Is it a terrible deal, no. It's right on that line.

Well since I am on the trade committee I will briefly share my thoughts and ruling. I usually get ripped and cursed at for doing so but think that it's my job to do so.
My initial reaction was exactly what Cards was and almost immediately disallowed the deal. But when I broke it down what I saw was a guy taking a chance at a young starter, who has looked excellent so far, and is locked up for years, plus a 2nd round pick where he expects that to be high, throw in Venable for Bruce. Now as good as Bruce is he definitely will be rough to resign next season and the Expos have a ton of OF and need starters.
My conclusion was that if Expos had not included a 4th rounder these two players and a 2nd for Bruce is fine. So if the difference between being fair and veto is a 4th rounder I just can not veto.
Allow

I will allow the trade too because there is no collusion or anything like that.
But the deal is bush league and stuff like this doesn't help the league.
1. Gomez has thrown 9 innings is a no body and could have gotten a MUCH better 1 year deal. If he is so good why wasn't he owned last year or go for more in auction? 2. He doesn't even net a pick, rather he just moves up. 3. Will Venable is trash.

I accept this deal.
It's a good deal for me - Bruce is expendable to my team - i have Hart, Cruz and Werth under contract. I'm not sure it's a good deal for the Indians. think about it.
Is Bruce worth more? On paper, yes. In reality, Could I have gotten more? maybe, but maybe not. Kudos to Indians for working hard to get Bruce. Several other expressed interest in Bruce, but that was as far as it went. I got a few offers too. But none were better than this one, as i recall it.
And by interest, this is what i mean: "hey man, i see you have an extra of. i would take bruce. i mean, he's not under contract, so i won't give up much. make me an offer." I got some real offers too, but nothing that peaked my interest too much.
As for my involvement level in the league... I'm not going to check in on the Kirby website every day. I'm not going to spend alot of time PM'ing back and forth or posting a bunch of messages about my opinion about this or that. and I'm not going to promise to check it more in the future. I have several teams to manage, no internet access during the day, and 3 little kids (2 boys playing baseball!) and a wife to pay attention to at night. If my current level of participation is a long term issue for you guys, do what you need to do. I can live with it.
