How important is the draft? How necessary are free agents? Can I contend by making great waiver pickups? These are some questions owners always ask themselves and I was doing some research on my own team and thought it may be fun for everyone to break down how their squads were made. It definitely shocked me a bit. Might be interesting may just be a dumb waste of time waiting for the season to start lol
Before the draft this year Yankees 2011 offseason :
14 teammates were traded for (weirdly just 4 of 16 hitters) 6 were aquired off waivers 7 were free agents (5 from the original FA auction) only 4 were drafted by me
I have free agent rights to 3 players, two were original free agent bids, one a trade

First of all, props to yanks on a fun topic.
As do the cardinals in real life, most of my guys are acquired via trade.
Just my major league roster at this point, who knows what i had on my roster in 2011 at this point lol...
1 - Drafted player on my major league roster I selected (Carlos Santana) 21 - Players aquired via trade (13 on rookie contracts who were acquired post draft) 8 - Players signed via FA
