Contracts
RFA rights
- Max contract length is 4 years
- Valid contracts are:
1 year - 2022 and forward a 1yr contract will show on the roster as FA but will have salary
1 year with option
2 year
3 year
4 year - A one year contract with an option will be denoted as "+". Option year salaries are 125% of the contract value
- Contracted players that are dropped will be penalized at half the contract dollar value for every year left on the contract. A dropped contract with an option assumes that the option year is picked up.
- All numbers values are rounded UP to the nearest .05 (a 5.375 million contract would round up to 5.40)
- After the season a team will be able to franchise tag (buyout) 1 pending free agent that is currently on their roster with a buyout contract. A franchise tag requires a minimum of a 2 year contract but can be up to a 4 years. The price of the franchise tag contract will be the same as the rookie buyout values for that year. Players coming off their final year of a rookie contract are not eligible to be franchised. The deadline to franchise a player will be February 1st. 2 way players that played full time at both positions the previous year will be eligible for buyout at the position with the higher dollar value.
- 2022 offseason and moving forward, a player must receive at least a 2 year contract to be eligible to franchised or RFA tagged at the end of the year. This will be indicated by 1 year contracts retaining a FA contract.
- Options contracts are not eligible for franchise or rfa tags. If the option is declined that player is dropped into the Free Agency pool. And if the players option is picked up that player becomes a free agent after his option year.
RFA rights
- Each off-season a team will have 2 RFA tags that they can use on impending free agents from their roster. All impending free agent are eligible to be tagged as a RFA.
- RFA designation deadline will be determined by the commish.
We can hold onto our expired contracts and they are tradeable commodities. By the deadline we tag 2 RFAs, if we choose, and the rest of the expired contracts are then dropped into the FA pool. After you have declared your franchise and RFA tags the remaining expiring contracts will be dropped from your roster. - All RFA rights entitle the holder to retain the player at 90% of the winning auction bid.
- If you bid on your own RFA other than an opening bid (unless you win on the opening bid) then you give up your RFA rights to a discount and ability to extend years on that player.
- The holder of a players RFA rights can add years to the winning bid but cannot take years away.
