Likely Landing Spots
Charlie Blackmon RFA NYM Projected Salary Non RFA 41.00
1. Rockies: Can the GM resist his need to collect elite outfielders and Colorado Players? This pick up would likely cause a trade to starting roster space. I could see a move of a higher priced outfielder to make room improved SB totals and CF flexibility.
2. Mets: Usually RFA rights not being traded in the offseason mean the owner will be counting on a hometown discount.
Other potential landing spots include Indians, Tigers and Rays
Clayton Kershaw RFA NYY Projected Salary (Non RFA) 45.00
1. Yankees: Kershaw has been a Yankee in this format since he was traded for Gordon Beckam before showing up on the MLB stage. That type of loyalty is tough to break.
2. Rangers: They have the came and need for a cornerstone player
Other possibilities: Mets, Braves and Rockies (JOKE)
Joey Votto RFA ATL Projected Salary 30 (Non RFA)
1. Braves: With no 1b on the roster and a discount on the option this seems most likely
2. Astros: A huge need for the skills Votto possesses, this move could bring the team from dark horse division contender into the light.
Starling Marte RFA ATL Projected Salary 28.00 (Non RFA)
1. Indians: The Indians need a CF and Speed to round out category contribution.
2. Mets: Stolen bases are key to the success of the Mets recent success.
Other potential landing spots include Braves on RFA and Phillies.
Jean Segura RFA HOU Project Salary 33 (Non RFA)
1. Astros – Coming off the emotional attachment of an epic season and paired with RFA rights, it is tough to see someone paying him what it would take to win him from the ‘Stros.
2. Rockies – Loaded on offense already a big time SS would add to one of the only weak spots. (And I haven’t heard rumors of a Trevor Story trade any time soon.
Other potential options: Braves and Rangers.
Matt Carpenter RFA Braves (How did this guy not win last year?), Projected Salary 29.0 (Non RFA)
1. Athletics: Management with ties to St. Louis and the Braves seeming a low priority for another 1B, this is my bet for Carpenter’s new roster home.
2. Astros: Another team with an OBP need and roster space at 1B, this seems like a strong possibility.
Other Possibilities: Cardinals (HOMER), Braves RFA (Homer), Indians (HOMER). Maybe I’m missing another HOMER. Let’s face it. Watching player on your favorite team hit a home run isn’t as sweet as if it leads your fantasy squad to victory.
AJ Pollock RFA Yankees Projected Salary 38.00 (Non RFA)
1. Yankees: With a need at CF and Pollock flashing elite production in the past, this seems like a lock.
2. Indians and Mets – Depending how the auctions shake out and their view of Pollock after injury, both of these teams have the cap space and roster construction to make the addition.
Daniel Murphy: Projected Salary 25.00
1. Yankees: 2B could be solved with a variety of other players, but none available have the potential and record of production. A perennial contender, this would complete the line up.
2. Tigers: With needs at 1B and 2B this could be flexible fit for the rebuilding team.
