So I was bored and decided to do a real quick comparison on the strength of each team's schedule from last year. Again, This was a very simple formula. I put each team in order of winning percentage and gave each team a ranking based on that. I then put each team's number in their place on the schedule and totaled every team's number based on opponent. So lowest number would be the toughest schedule. Hopefully that makes sense to everyone. First off, here are the teams in order of finish with winning %.
1. Yankees 2. Cardinals 3. Braves 4. Rockies 5. Nationals 6. Rays 7. Indians 8. Mets 9. Expos 10. Cubs 11. Red Sox 12. Phillies 13. Royals 14. Marlins 15. Tigers 16. Angels
Now here is the strength of schedule rankings with totaled number
1. Phillies 160 2. Tigers 161 3. Expos 162 (T) Angels 162 5. Nationals 164 6. Red Sox 166 7. Cubs 167 (T) Indians 167 9. Yankees 172 (T) Cardinals 172 (T) Rockies 172 12. Braves 174 13. Rays 176 14. Marlins 177 15. Mets 182 16. Royals 186
Just some information to argue about. The next question is if people think we should do the schedule the same way again. I think that since everyone cannot play each other equally, it makes sense to do the weighted schedule. I know it obviously benefitted me this past year, but I do not think that would happen every year. I believe it will benefit someone different each year. Thoughts?
