Alright -
We know we are replacing cubs.
We have another owner who hasn't logged in since April - does anyone know if he will try or not next year?
With the wildcard and the way we weight our own divisions it is more crucial than ever to have active GMs.
Maybe with the wildcard we no longer need the division weighted schedule.

If you can tell me another fair way to do the schedule other than weighted division, I'm all ears. Having ESPN randomly decide who plays who is not fair. I understand if one team is in a tougher division than another, it makes it more difficult to make the playoffs, but so would the random scheduling from ESPN. There is a reason real baseball sticks with the weighted schedule.

I was just saying they weighted schedule actually makes the wildcard more difficult on the strong division. Makes sense? Or am I crazy. More games against better teams.
I don't think it effected anyone this year but it could have with the Rays scenario.

I think it's just the nature of fantasy that the bottom teams pay less attention. Cubs and Rays should be replaced no doubt but it's no huge advantage to anyone to play them because teams like Phillies and Astros haven't set their lineups either. Cards, you are in the weakest division and play the easiest schedule, so yes it helps your wild card hopes, but next year it might be different. Hard to tell year to year. It would be great to find 16 committed owners for the full year but guys out by 30-40 games will either not pay attention or want to finish last so they get the #1 draft pick. Remember we reward bad play (as does real baseball) so tanking comes into question. But I agree Rays might need to go and Cubs it seems is replaced.

I agree with this. I think the main issue with tanking right now is that the teams that are controlled by absent owners have such bad lineups that it forces the other teams that are not in the race but are still being managed to try and purposely make their lineups bad just so they can try and compete to get the lowest possible pick. I don't know how we can fix this other than try and find guys who would stick with it.

But not logging in since April? That is not trying. I'm sure rays has 100 messages of people trying to trade with him. I know i tried.
Guys available on the scrap heap this this year include
Duvall Ottavino Saunders Jose Ramirez Steven wright
Even on one year contracts they could have been sold high for picks to rebuild.

Oh ya I agree with that too. One can make an argument that being out of the race means you should be more active, at least on the website and texting, making deals. Both teams had players they could have traded to help their teams in the future. I mean Astros and I have 3 1st rd picks each! They could have been making moves even if it was for mid rd picks or taking a chance on a younger player or prospect. It might be that I haven't contended yet but I think the most fun might be acquiring future assets and rebuilding.

How do we not have all dedicated mgrs in this league? I feel like if we put up in Espn that we have a 10 year league looking for people who want a challenge we should grab the biggest fantasy enthusiasts out there.
I'm also up for bringing back - the old Ray's Gm since he quit and wasn't booted. Jordan wasn't a problem - I think it was the a's Gm

I understand what you are saying, Cards, and I wish we could recruit more consistency as well. I think some people think they are big fantasy players but do not always understand what it means to be in a league like this.
I think another big thing is if we can invite people we know to fill in spots. Obviously, not everyone is going to work out, but it is nice when one of us can know who is being represented.
Also, if we are looking for someone this offseason, I think I have one who can fill a spot.

I'm a fan of asking people questions as well - like who are your top prospects outside the 100 etc

Are we up for putting this guy back in? Remember he was a good Gm and quit - he wasn't booted. I'm in favor.
