Sorry guys this is a plain VETO !
I reserve my VETO's for when things don't look right. There is no way this should be allowed. Cubs gives up a 6th round pick for someone he could have bid on just hours ago and saved that pick. So you might argue he saves $1.5 dollars that is certainly not worth a 6th rounder but ok even if we go with that, he now has to cut someone and eat that salary which must be at least a $10 player to get under the cap. So no matter how this shakes out Cubs just gave up a 6th round pick PLUS whoever he must drop and took on money for a guy he could have just raised $1 hours ago.
This makes absolutely no sense whatsoever and smells really fishy. Easiest call I've ever made on the committee ... VETO !

Not one of those deals did a player have to drop a player on the current roster and lose money. This isn't like any of those deals at all. He is losing a current player, losing a pick, and losing cap room.
This is not basically Hudson for a 6th , this is Hudson for a 6th rounder, Justin Morneu and $16 if you're using Morneu as your basis
By your theory he could have just dropped Morneu and raised Hudson to $30 , while keeping his 6th rounder and he'd be in the exact same spot. We both know Hudson wouldn't have gone for $30. So again in now way does this benefit him. Not in cap, not in players, not in picks, not present or future ... easiest overturn the league should ever have

and don't flatter yourself, a team that doesn't make the playoffs is not my competition.

you're factoring things you shouldn't and we don't as a trade committee. We always examine the trade as is, not in retrospect to the team because what he wants to do with his team is up to him (as far as cuts).

the guy is over the cap, how do I not factor in that he is taking on money, losing a current player worth more than Hudson , and giving up a pick. This is all part of the trade

So what if he has to cut someone thats his choice. Seems to me you're judging this trade on perceived future moves and because he didnt go about it the way you would have.

If Cubs can tell us one benefit of making this move then I'd be ok with it. You have to look at future moves here because the ONLY reason he would make this trade is to save $1.5. If not then he would have just bid on him. SO if his sole reasoning for making this deal was to save that money then you look at the cap and realize he is actually losing money by doing this it goes back to the question, why make this move. He isn't gaining anything at all ... losing a pick, losing a player, losing cap ... Cards is getting a free pick

WTF are you talking about. On the Adam Jones deal bidding had not begun, the guy had $100 in cap space wasnt dropping anyone. It's literally nothing like that at all. Again let Cubs come on here and tell us why he thinks it was smarter to give up a pick and eat $16 in cap while also dropping a player, rather than bid on him. If you or he truly believes that Tim Hudson who will miss a month + of baseball this year would have been paid as a top 5 starter in the league then it would make sense. The only way this trade makes any sense is if Cubs thinks he would have gone for more than $30.
You comparing deals where it was rights for picks is seriously moronic now because it's clearly not even close to the same situations

And i don't get what the benefit of Cubs bidding him up would be when he's over the cap and he can make this deal and get him for 13.5.

I agree Indians Hudson is a nice player, but again it begs the question. Why not drop Morneu (who I'm using since Cards did) bid Hudson up , save the money, save the pick ? He handed Cards the pick for literally no gain and actually double the loss
