I'm a little with Indians here. I understand the $5 & an 8th for a 5th, but I'm not sure where the overpriced relievers come into this. It looks like Nats receives a 5th round pick with two $1 relievers and taking a $13 hit to his cap, where he has the money to do so. Cubs clears $13 for this year (which he needs badly), and some money for the next few years with not having the cut penalties of these relievers and gets a pick back as well. I feel we have shown in this league that $13 is worth more than just moving up 3 rounds in the draft.
I'm not saying this is a clear veto or collusion, but I would just appreciate Nats explaining what he thinks he is getting out of this deal since neither of these RPs are projected to get saves or holds for the price they cost. That explanation would go a long way.

You were also let back in with the understanding that your trades with your family would be under more scrutiny than the past and more than other trades. Basically paying $13 or $8.55 (if he cuts) to move up 3 rounds and get you out of 2 bad contracts makes zero sense. I don't think there are too many GMs that would be willing to do that kind of favor for their "competition". "He’s a guy who will pitch well enough to get a string of high-leverage chances at one point or another but will settle in at a spot better than Heath Hembree but worse than Josh Taylor" that's a 1x1 player not 3x3. So that deserves a lack of Respect??

For example:
Nats send: 5$M
Cubs send: Marcus Walden $3M 2022 Lou Trivino $4.10M 2021 5th Round
Okay whatever...
OR
Nats send: 8th round
Cubs send: Marcus Walden $3M 2022 Lou Trivino $4.10M 2021 5th Round
Okay don't really care....
But this... Nats send: 5$M 8th round
Cubs send: Marcus Walden $3M 2022 Lou Trivino $4.10M 2021 5th Round
Makes me go Hmmm what's really going on here.

Cubs, I appreciate your response and the article you included. I know there is a difference of opinion here on Walden, but I just have not seen anyone in the industry valuing Walden in that way. Again, just my opinion. I think the edited trade makes sense. I also think the original would have made sense if either Nats did not give the additional $5 or you improved your pick from a 5th to a 2nd/3rd (I say 2nd because I am assuming your 2nd will be near the end of the round). It was not way off, but the money difference seemed to be more than what we have valued picks at in this league.
