If Pujols gave the Cards a chance to match and they didnt then shame on them. After all he has done for them how could they not at least match any offer? Do they not make enough money?

Pujols actually turned down more money from the Marlins who offered $275 for 10

I've been following this pretty closely for the past 2 1/2 years. I'm mad at both sides, I don't think either side did enough to make something work. Here's my opinion on the whole thing.
The Cardinals have been talking to Lozano for the past two years, he told them it would take ARod money for them to have an extension before free agency. So the Cards knew this the whole time and never had any attention of approaching the 25 AAV, they where more comfortable with an AAV closer to 20. Knowing that he probably wouldn't accept that but they had to make an offer to save face and show they tried and if the market wasn't there and he did accept they could live with that. I think this shows in them not really upping there offer from the spring of 9yr 198 range to the 10yr 220 range this winter.
As far as Pujols' side if he is everything he says he is, wanted to be a Cardinal for life, cares about the Cardinal fans and the city like he has said he does multiple times. Then he would have made some concessions as well that would have allowed a deal to be worked out for him to stay. Looking back I think he's been all about the money for awhile and knew once the season started that he was gone, hope he takes that ugly ass statue with him.
Just my take on the whole thing.

Obviously my 'Save Pujols" pilgrimage to Dallas did not go as planned. As a fan I am upset that he is gone. As a businessman I am glad he is gone. That type of contract only benefits the player and would've killed the Cards long term as many of you have said. We will allocate those funds to other players and may be a better team for it. With that money would could buy what....Beltran, Oswalt, and Rollins? I'll take that trio over Pujols anyday.

Mixed feelings but I guess I'm upset cause I feel like both sides have been lying to us the past 2 years. What I'm afraid of is that they won't spend the money. Name the last big name free agent coming off a productive year that they've signed that didn't play for the team before hitting FA.

As an Angel fan i could not be more excited to have Albert in Anaheim along with CJ Wilson. But the thing is that 10 years is gonna hurt the angels from signing some players when contracts go up (Trumbo, Trout, etc). But as long as the team plays together and gets a couple of titles its gonna be an excellent investment

I can't believe the Reds gave up that much for Latos. I would expect Rizzo to be traded soon, probably for some pitching. Maybe to the Rays for Davis

Yeah, as a Reds fan, I'm officially frustrated. Glad that we were actively looking to improve our SP, but that doesn't mean we needed to give up EVERYONE we were willing to trade for a guy who is not yet truly established.
And as a Grandal owner, I realized he was likely going to be traded, but now I get to have him play in Petco? Boooo.
